Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She has written fifteen books. She is also the co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for more than 10 years. She is also the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. She was born in Greece and moved to England at age 16. In Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to do so. A conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she went on to become a voice of the Huffington Post. Her celebrity status helped her in getting several high-profile contributors to post their views on politics news and culture. Arianna was first noticed when she ran for California's recall election, replacing then Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of a Detroit initiative to encourage fuel efficient cars. Forbes listed her as one of as one of the "most powerful female" within the field of media and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 top media personalities in 2009. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media unit, which comprised of many then-existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother that formed her. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. At the age of sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the only foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. Following after graduation she became a journalist and TV host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
